Motive Ex motors: the new ATEX certificate is here
The new “rev.02” Motive ATEX certificate for three-phase Ex motors and forced ventilation units has now been issued.
The certification process that also led to our new IECEx certification gave us the opportunity to further develop and rationalize the Ex range.
The new ATEX certificate brings together motors and forced ventilation units under the same certification framework, with a common approach to the entire Ex range.
As before, the new certification covers, in an ALL-IN-ONE approach:
- Zones 1 + 2 + 21 + 22; Categories 2 + 3
- All GAS and DUST groups A + B + C
- Temperature classes T4, T5 and T6
- All duty types from S1 to S9
- They can be used also with variable frequency drives, with no downrating
This means that the same certified product philosophy can cover the different combinations of hazardous areas, substances, temperatures and operating conditions that customers may encounter.
What has changed compared with ATEX Rev. 01?
- A single marking for ATEX + IECEx. Same product. Same code. Same configuration.
- One certification framework for motors and forced ventilation units
This makes the selection and specification of the complete motor + forced ventilation solution considerably simpler.
- IE4 motors are now included
- Special 400/690V for smaller sizes also certified (in the version with outgoing cable and without terminal box)
- Ex anti-condensation heater now available from size 63
- Some motor ratings certified low temperature have been further improved

And the upgrade continues
The work on the Motive Ex range does not stop here.
The ATEX certification upgrade and IECEx for Ex gearboxes is now in its final stage.
The objective is to build an increasingly complete Ex portfolio covering the different components of a drive system.
